The office of chairman of the Fed has been sacrosanct since 1913. Never is the chairman criticized on fundamental grounds. Usually, he is hailed a master central planner, as Greenspan was called the "maestro." The fact that the predator drone from Texas, Rick Perry, felt it was in his interests to denounce Bernanke so vociferously--using language the gentleman candidate never would--is a tribute to Ron Paul. Thanks to Ron, more and more Americans see the Fed as an inflation and recession-production machine, run by and for the big banks. They understand something about Austrian business cycle theory. Thanks to Ron, the chairman is now no holy figure, nor is the Fed some secular state church. This is the sort of idea-shift Ron has produced in so many areas. This is why the regime fears him.
