Review of Copy Edits
Last week, I reviewed with Marc Simmons the edits made by the copy editor. Over the past weekend, I finished the review of the edits for Part II, Part III and the Work Cited. Most edits were related to style to achieve consistency within the manuscript. All in all the manuscript is looking very good. I was able to make some small additions to several notes consisting of new material I came across in recent months.
A draft description of the book for the UNM Press 2012 Spring catalog was sent last week for review. I made some revisions for accuracy and sent a copy to Marc Simmons. Upon his review, we will send the catalog description back to UNM Press. Then we wait for the galley proofs.
The next big task is preparing the index.
Also, I continue to research and write about the history of the López Holguín family as part of the Santa Fe Founding Families series running in El Farolito (journal of the Olibama López Tushar Hispanic Research Center). The next segment that will appear in the Spring 2011 issue of El Farolito and will focus on the branch of the Holguín family established by Cristóbal Holguín, a natural son of Juan López Holguín. Cristóbal's sons and grandsons were outstanding soldiers during the 1680s through the 1690s.
