White shepherd in need of transportation

I might not be able to post here for a while, as I am trying to cope with the sudden, unexpected death of a dear friend, someone who has been an important part of my life for over thirty years. I know we’ve all been down this wretched road, so I know you all will understand. I will do my best not to fall off the edge of the world, though.
This next message is for all the animal lovers, which are about 99.9% of my readers and Facebook friends. After I adopted a shepherd from Echo White Shepherd Rescue and shared how volunteers drove him up the coast from Florida to his new home with me, some of you then volunteered to drive for Echo, too, when needed. They are now sending a young shepherd named Niko to his new home and are asking for drivers, so here is the information. You can contact Sarabeth or me if you can spare a few hours this weekend.
Niko needs a ride to his forever home on Saturday, February 25th. If you can help, please email me as soon as possible at hpsarabeth@gmail.com. If you can't drive, please share with reliable contacts along the route. I know some of you aren't in the area, but my contacts are thin on the DelMarVa peninsula. If you have contacts there, please share.--Sarabeth
If you haven't driven for Echo Dogs in a while or if your information has changed, please send this information if you can drive:

Mardi P.s. Wish Niko was headed in other direction. I could have helped with the Florida part. Keep in mind if you need this part of the route for another adoption.

message 11: by Faith (new)

Faith Perry Sharon, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I've been there often over the past few years. During those times, I found our hearts are soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as we celebrate their lives that were well lived. It really doesn't get easier but we learn ways to cope by focusing on the good memories.
On Niko, sorry I can't help this weekend. I do live in Maryland but not Delmarva. Good luck.

Sharon Thank you all so much. We've all faced the loss of a loved one, a family member or friend, and all we can rely upon is sympathy and understanding. Mardi and Faith, I always post any Echo requests for drivers so sooner or later, it is likely that a dog in need will be traveling near you and if you can help, that would be great. Without those wonderful people who volunteered to drive Tristan all the way from FLA to MD, where I drove down to meet him, he'd have been stranded at that high-kill shelter; as it was, he was pulled by an Echo volunteer on his last day. The shelter was sure he was unadoptable because he was an older dog and not in good shape; he was painfully thin and losing his fur because of starvation. He weighed 64 lbs when I adopted him, and 95 lbs when he died 20 months later. He'd lost fully a third of his body weight during his time on the streets or chained up in someone's back yard. He was found as a stray so we did not know his history, but the Echo rescue volunteers thought from his behavior that he'd probably never been in a house before. So I am enormously grateful to anyone who is willing to take an hour or so out of their day to help one of these dogs find a new home and a new life.
