This was my first Nanowrimo book. I originally wrote it to be part of my Marriage Game series, but I didn’t get it finished in time for the series chronology. So it became the first book of The Worthingtons. My inspiration was Matt Worthington. He had been in the first two books, and it was clear he was looking for a lady to marry. Fortunately, he found her.

How much research do you do?

Tons. Especially for this book. The premise hinges on laws specific to the Regency regarding child custody. Many people are surprised to know that married women could not have guardianship of a minor child. This applied to their own children as well. The concept was just not there. That, of course, was in addition to the clothing, horses, houses, carriages…

What are your favorite historical romance tropes?

I love the compromised into marriage trope, and I probably use it too often. Although, I’m in the process of reading some of Amanda Quick’s older Regencies, and she uses it quite a bit as well. It’s just so much fun and there are so many ways one can fall afoul of Polite Society’s rules.
