I had no idea

This is the first blog I've ever written, so please bear with me if I'm doing this wrong. When I first set out to write my novel, almost five years ago, I had no idea of the depth and scope of the literary world. Everything I'd ever learned, or thought I'd learned, about the literary universe came from novels I'd read, and, of course, television. They paint an awfully abbreviated version of what's really out here. One thing I've found, and I'm sure the rest of you will roll your eyes and shake your heads, is that this is the slowest moving business in which I've ever been involved. It could be a perception thing, and I have only my own experience to draw from, but to me, this business is almost glacial. Like a damned fool, I pictured fame and fortune. As my agent told me, and it took what felt like a lifetime just to find her, "Don't go hiring any butlers right away."
Anyway, I thought I might talk a little about my journey through the literary reality that I've come to understand, at least a little, in my future blogs. I still have no idea if I'm even doing this blog thing the right way. You tell me. Please. Any advice from those of you with more experience would be greatly appreciated.
