BURT AND ERNIE NOT GETTING MARRIED

Can someone tell me why we're trying to make two male puppets get married? Don't we have bigger issues to tackle such as unemployment and economy? Someone didn't think so when they petitioned for Sesame Street to marry long standing puppets, Burt and Ernie. This week, Sesame Street issued a statement saying that the characters will not be getting married and are not gay. They only exist to teach children that you can be friends with someone that is different from you.
