2017 - Off to a Mixed Start

I save my political comments for Facebook, so let's just say the only good news from Washington these days is that our new president is uniting the country... against him. According to Gallup he is the first president to have a majority of the country against him in only eight days. His predecessors took years. Quite an accomplishment.

Meanwhile I start the year with the release of two books, so I wanted to call attention to both of them. Obviously I'm very excited by the release of my second novel -- and my seventh book -- Time on My Hands: My Misadventures in Time Travel which launched a couple of weeks ago at Arisia, the same convention were I launched my last two releases from Fantastic Books. The official publication date is Feb. 21, but if you can't wait it will be for sale at Boskone over the President's Day Weekend, and at the 24 Science Fiction Movie Marathon at the Somerville. We're also planning an event outside of the convention world in Cambridge. Details as I have them. If you read it and like it, please post reviews here and at Amazon and BN.com if you can. Positive word from readers is helpful If you didn't like it, perhaps you'd prefer Trump: The Art of the Deal?

My other book is an anthology in which I have a short story. It's the third anthology (fourth, if you count the website hollywooddementia.com) I've been in. This one came out in December and is called After the Happily Ever After: a collection of fractured fairy tales and includes my short story "Witch v. Hansel, Gretel, et. al." where I get to put my legal training to work in considering how this story might have continued. It's a big collection, and if the idea of speculating on how your favorite fairy tales might have continued, it's something you'll want on your radar.

As the year progresses I'm hoping to place more short stories and have another novel in the works. And, of course, I'm still reviewing new movies for NorthShoreMovies.net and classic SF films for Space and Time Magazine. If you like my work, please tell your friends. As a veteran critic it's not easy to admit, but the best promotion for a book (or a movie or any other work) is still word of mouth.
