I did not pledge allegiance to a country that slams the door in the faces of refugees, bars its own residents from their homes, and persecutes people for their religious beliefs.

I pledge allegiance to the land of the free, the home of the brave, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. I pledge allegiance to the true America.

Cloud Narnia This is why you are one of my favorite authors. I agree, I wish I was there protesting along side you and others.

message 2: by Kang Ying (new)

Kang Ying She I would protest too even though I am in Norway. How Could Trump be a president? When I followed it on school I was driving crazy. My first thought was: he would create chaos. Btw love your books so much.

I agree with Cloud that you are one of my favorite author!

Marie Do we have to make this reading group political? Really?

message 4: by Chloe (new)

Chloe Thank you so much. I think people should be aware of what's happening out there.

Zumrut Thank you so much Marie! It made me extremely happy to see this

I respect everyone's opinion, but I am tired of this.

message 7: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Actually you did. Because bans like this is not new, we've had bans before, and you were fine when Obama did it. So suck it up buttercup and either stop complaining and become patriotic or leave our country. I followed you because you are an author who writes decent book, you are not a politician. Lets just say you've lost a fan because you had to go and make every thing political.

She's a HUMAN first and foremost.

message 9: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey I'm sorry, did I call her an animal? Apparently humans can't suck it up. That explains a lot.

Everything IS political; have you even read Marie Lu's books? The entire Legend series circulates around politics...

message 12: by Kang Ying (new)

Kang Ying She I have to agree even though I started reading the first book this year.

message 13: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Yes, her books are dystopian. Dystopian is where society rules over the public. It's an an imperfect society. However that does not change the fact that she has pledge Allegiance to the flag of a country that closes its boarders. Name a president who hasn't closed immigration to some countries while they were in office. You'll have to go pretty far back in history to be able to. She doesn't like President Trump, but her sign is dumb, as she has done so. That was the point of my point. The sign is a lie.

Mark Robichaud It's always great to be Kumbaya! Folks, in case you've missed it we have a $20 trillion dollar debt. 80+% of immigrants including refugees go straight on welfare. We can not continue to pay for the worlds problems. Every American pays on average $8k per year for entitlements towards immigration. America spends $150b on immigrants annually. The people with the most to lose are the middle class. We have to start to be responsible again!

Well stated, Mark! The "ban" isn't about keeping others out, its about the good of our country, the good for you and me and the good for our children and grand children. And the "ban" is ONLY on countries that produce and send out a large number of terrorists. Where is the bad in that? I personally would like to see America become what it once was, a Country to look up to and respect, not laugh at. If it takes President Trump to do it, so be it.
