119

as i wade into your writing, i feel i’m a child emerging from a long darkness alone
you, my guide, your hands softly over my eyes
i read the first few lines and feel crunching under my feet
a cool breeze smells of snow
fire crackles and heat rises in waves on my face
you remove your hand slowly, revealing the world a little more with each line
i breath in the winter you’ve painted
i’m certain i’ve never seen until now
i’m a man who lost sight on my wedding night after seeing my young wife’s face for a few short hours
and years passed until i received my vision back as an old man
and looking upon my wife for the first time in decades, i believe her to be even more beautiful than i remembered
so it is when i see the scenes you spin with written words
as if i’ve never seen such things for myself
and i only want to see this world through your eyes
