i looked into the trees
and found i was a red ballon floating up through the branches into the blue sky and there to rise into the atmosphere until this world was no longer my home
i would wait for you up there among the stars
watching and smiling down as you love and live a good life until your time was also done
and that leaf that twirled down between us from a tree by the creek
i’d tie it to my string so i could carry a piece of you with me
and feel your touch again as i remember your fingers touching mine when you placed that little yellow leaf in my hand
you are my anchor to this world
let go of my hand and i’ll float away on a quiet breeze
the wind is picking up around us
the time is here

Where Whispers Willow, a collection of 100 reverie, musings and lingering dreams.
