Dirty New Year + My To-Do list!

2016 was an interesting year.

But then, so is every year. It felt like too many of our musical and silver screen legends passed on—#RIP to George, Carrie, Debbie, Prince, David and all those I’ve missed—but any loss is something we always take to heart. 2016 sucked and rocked in equal parts. That’s the beauty of 365 days. Every morning we have the chance to wake up to a fresh start.

I was predictable this year. I took the chance to take that fresh start on New Year’s Day. I didn’t make any resolutions, per se. But I did set myself some goals.

As part of Loose Id’s author loop, I found myself amid a bunch of writers who were determined to organize themselves. I’ve never been renowned for my organizational talents—don’t ask my mum, please God!! However, among such motivated peeps, I found myself shifting gear and being determined to start the new year in the right frame of mind.

I spent the latter half of 2016 dealing with personal issues, family health problems, and a myriad other matters that sapped at my energy, blocked my fingers from doing much tapping on the keyboard, and had me avoiding social networks like the plague.

That meant my last release, The Strength Of Love, came onto the scene with relatively little pizazz. I’m mad at myself about this, but if the heart and soul isn’t in it, then that’s how it goes. I’m not excusing myself because I let a lot of people down; I just couldn’t get motivated to do much where my books were concerned.

So, here’s my public pledge to myself. This way I can be held accountable!

1. Write 14000 words minimum a week, preferably split up into daily 2000 word chunks. This is for my work. Freelance writing will have to be an extra 10-20000.

2. Maintain my newfound daily yoga habit. By the end of the year, achieve a perfect headstand, handstand, the crane, and best of all, a dragonfly.

3. Run 5-10 miles a week.

4. Be more sociable, connect with my readers more. Let them into my crazy, whacky but relatively boring life >.
