An Anxious Launch

It was late December, and I had a big launch coming up. In early 2017, I planned to release the first four books of The Chain, the urban fantasy series I've been working on for the last several years.

But I had a problem.

I launched four books and a boxed set between October and December, and three of those had page count issues on Amazon, one of them (the boxed set) showed a smaller page count than two of the three books in the set! That made me nervous about the automation behind the Kindle program, especially Kindle Select and the whole page reads mechanism. I wanted to optimize this new series release, and anecdotal evidence pointed to Amazon favoring Kindle Select books.

Ultimately, I bit the bullet and launched The Journey Home early, on 24 December 2016, hoping I could work out any kinks before advertising kicked in. The page count seemed to come out okay, but I ran into other issues and received frankly dreadful tech support. I'm assuming the holidays accounted for some of that. Fortunately, I figured out the problem myself (aspect ratio on the cover).

Since launch, I've been running ads and giveaways on Amazon and advertising through Facebook and Goodreads, but the email blasts begin this weekend, when I'll use up three of my five free days.

If you'd like to get into a giveaway sweepstakes for the book, you can sign up here (https://giveaway.amazon.com/p/a96ccd3...).

And if you like urban fantasy but want to give something a little different a try, pick up the first book--The Journey Home!
