BRIDGET'S GUIDE TO THE GREAT, NOT-SO-GREAT AND DOWNRIGHT ABOMINABLE AMERICAN PRESIDENTS!
Bridget Wilder: Live Free, Spy Hard takes place in Washington, DC, during a Presidential election in which the incumbent Commander-In-Chief is battling it out with a billionaire candidate who has a huge and devoted following. It was written more than eighteen months ago! Scary, right?
To commemorate this final exciting adventure in the Bridget Wilder collection, let's take a look at the men who held the most powerful position in the world.
1) GEORGE WASHINGTON
He was elected President twice, in 1789 and 1792
His presidency founded the US Navy, established the national currency, created the State Department and established the Supreme Court.
He was the first to sign the Constitution.
He was the richest President to date, worth over $500 million if his assets were valued today. But, of coutese, money doesn't automatically mean you're qualified to do the job.
He never stayed in the White House (It wasn't built until after his death)
He didn't have wooden teeth. The truth is much worse. His choppers were made out of a mixture of animal bone and the teeth of his slaves. ( He would go on to make a provision in his will to free his slaves.)
Those close to him called him General.
He never chopped down a cherry tree.
He died after doctors removed over 80 ounces of his blood while trying to cure a throat infection
He was known to be a limber and energetic dancer.
He was a not a healthy President: he suffered from diptheria, tuberculosis, smallpox, dysentery, malaria. tonsilitis and pneumonia. Not all at once, but over the course of his life.
He was a big-time whiskey manufacturer, producing 11,000 gallons per year.
He owned 57 mules and can be credited for introducing the mule to America.
