'The music world has rediscovered the sounds of classic soul music in that past decade. The proof is in the success of people like the late Amy Winehouse and any number of other retro-soul artists.  But rediscovery implies that something was lost for a while.  And that simply is not the case. Those classic soul rhythms, the bright horns, the impassioned vocals – those sounds never went away.  They’ve been kept alive this whole time by singers like Lee Fields, who released his first single in 1969, and has just put out a new album called Special Night with his band The Expressions.
