An Interview with Aiden from Hidden in the Night

I have been wanting to interview Aiden for a couple of weeks now, but he keeps putting me off. Finally, I am able to pin him down and we meet at a bar in Carson City, Nevada.

Of course, I am running late. When I arrived at the bar, it took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the darkness. It was a small bar that had seen better days. It smelled of old beer and stale smoke. The place was almost empty except for a few regulars who occupied the stools at the bar, and a couple people lounging in booths.

I found Aiden in a booth in back. As I approached him, he nodded at me once. Even though I had written his story and had met him many times before, his sheer size and the power that radiates off of him never fails to surprise me.

Carly: Hi, Aiden. Thank you for meeting me. I was beginning to think you were avoiding me.

He shrugged.

Aiden: Just have other people I would rather spend my time with.

Right. Okay.

Carly: So, I wanted this meeting to be a sort of post book wrap up. How are things going?

Aiden: Good.

Carly: How's Robert?

A warm smile creeps on to his face

Aiden: "He's good. He's doing really good."

Carly: "And Holly?"

Aiden's smile gets bigger.

Aiden: She's bossy and demanding. If I do what she says, there's peace in the house.

I laughed. I know that Aiden worships the ground that little female walks on.

Carly: What about Thaddeus and Emily?

Aiden took a long sip of his beer.

Aiden: The babe is well. Thaddeus is stressed out, and he is driving Emily fucking crazy. Hell, he's driving us all crazy. There's about to be a mutiny and get him out of the house until after the babe is born.

Since everyone was talking about kicking Thaddeus out of his own house, I knew he was being terribly difficult.

Carly: When is the babe supposed to arrive?

Aiden: Sometime in the next three to four months. You know you can't pinpoint that stuff.

Carly: How's Rohan? Is he still around?

Aiden nods.

Carly: Do you think he'll talk to me the way you and Thaddeus have?

Aiden: Don't know, Carly. You'd have to ask him.

Right.

Aiden cleared his throat.

Aiden:  Anything else?

Yes there was. I wanted to tell Aiden I was so happy that he had finally found his peace. That he looked good, instead of the walking wreck he was when I first met him. That Holly seemed to bring out the best in him, and if I was being honest, I was half in love with him myself. But I didn't really say any of that.

Carly: No, Aiden. Just that…I'm happy for you.

Aiden:  Me, too.

He actually winked at me, slammed back the rest of his beer, and left.
