Series 4 Finale Speculation: History Repeating itself/The Great Game Revisted
“From the beginning, then?”Okay, so as we’re gearing up to the big ‘climax’ of our story, it’s only natural for us to get some stunning, often poignant call-backs to previous episodes. Of course, The Abominable Bride was partially, a giant call-back to ‘The Past’ (particularly an inversion of A Study in Pink). And, there have already been many moments repeated, or foreshadowed, or paralleled throughout the series so far.
But, as Series 4 plunges us into “deeper and darker waters”, I think we’ll be returning to arguably the most ‘case-heavy’ episode: The Great Game. This is where we’re obviously first introduced to the Ultimate Villain Jim Moriarty. But, at first we don’t know it- we are with Sherlock, distracted by the tangled web of cases.
I predict that, this time, ‘The Great Game’ will be spread over the entire three episodes of series 4: three seemingly separate cases, but only revealed to be connected until the near end of episode three.Except, instead of Jim Moriarty being behind everything…
Ooh, just look at that devious little smile. You know she’s got a plan to bring Sherlock’s whole world crashing down around him.
I think this is happening! Mary is orchestrating The Great Game redone! Just look at this post from @skulls-and-tea- the count down in the background of the s4 promo photos matches the count down numbers from The Great Game!
“Oh, it’s getting exciting, now! Tick tock, tick tock…”
I can buy this. I’m still onboard with the Mary is Moriarty theory.
