Scene Set - Peyton is a little angry with Fuchsia.



By nine o'clock she stood in the warm Miami sunshine, glancing right and left, looking for Lanna's Lexus. When she pulled up, Fuchsia slid in and apologized three times. The ride from the airport to Lang Towers was silent. Fuchsia opened the car door. "Thank you for the lift. I'll try and fix this mess." She shut the door, crossed the walkway, and entered the coolness of the main lobby.The security guard at the front desk was not the same one as when she was here a few days ago. She explained she needed to speak with Mr. Lang. He buzzed Peyton's personal assistant and gave her name. The guard placed the phone on the receiver and pointed to the elevator. "Do you know where to go?"She smiled. "Yes. Thank you." She walked into the elevator with eight other people. She pressed the top button. The ride moved at the pace of molasses, stopping at various floors, where people either entered or exited. She wanted them to all just disappear for five minutes so she could get to Peyton and explain, so he could forgive her and this whole catastrophe could end. At last, she was alone in the elevator. The chime rang and the doors slid open. She crossed the floor to the waiting personal assistant. Her face was neutral. "Go right in."Fuchsia's hand trembled as it reached for the doorknob. She inhaled and exhaled, grabbed the handle, pressed it down and entered. Peyton was leaning on the edge of his desk. His arms were crossed. His mouth set in a grim line."Hi." Her voice squeaked like a mouse's."What do you want? I'm kind of busy here.""I want to explain. And apologize. I… I—"Rage flared in his eyes. "What if I don’t want to listen?""You have to. I know I screwed up. I know—"He scoffed, walked across the room, poured himself a whiskey and gulped it down. "Let me explain it this way. I tried. You never gave me a chance. And now I don't care. Peyton is the guy we all want and Fuchsia is a girl who is not giving up on her dreams. When the two collide, everything is turned upside down and the result is hot, but also laugh out loud funny. 5 Star ***** This is the first book I have had the privilege of reading by Daryl Devote (Devore). I'm hooked!! Peyton and Fuchsia's story was full of heat and love. Their playful banter had me laughing out loud. I would definitely recommend this book to my family and friends.
