And Then I Read: GREEN LANTERN EMERALD WARRIORS 8, GREEN LANTERN 65

Just when I was about ready to give up on this saga, it pulls me back in with these fun issues allowing Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner to spend some quality time together. After meeting at a previously agreed safe hideout, the two initially struggle with each other, then realize the cause, and remove their rings for a while. And the resulting dialogue and character-building scenes are perhaps the best moments of this storyline yet. Hal even gets to be a pilot again, and Guy finds out exactly what kind, to his dismay! Other Earth Lanterns Kyle Rayner and John Stewart also have some nice moments.

The art by Fernando Pasarin and Cam Smith on EMERALD WARRIORS, and that of Doug Mahnke and a quintet of inkers on GREEN LANTERN continues to be excellent in every way, and I was particularly impressed with the title spread of the former including dozens of Green Lanterns of every imaginable type, as well as the fine character acting in the quieter scenes in both.

Highly recommended.
