Forrest Interesting. I'm curious about what he meant by "overcoming horror". Does he mean that literature should empower man to somehow transcend horror through its own text, or does he mean that literature should present the horrific in order to evoke a reader response that enables the reader to overcome the presentation of the horror through their own internal psychological or spiritual strength? Or did he mean absolutely nothing like the options I'm positing? Curious.
