November Reads Round Up
A brief summary of my November reads with links to the full reviews.
When Darkness Breaks (The Underground Guardians #1) by Brianna West
Full review: When Darkness Breaks.
I gave this book 5/5. A fantastic new aspect of the Promiscus Guardians world. Demon guardians protecting Earth from the Underworld, and an Angel and Demon romance at its hottest. Convincing characters, and a highly anticipated love interest who doesn’t disappoint.
Earth’s Knot by Katie Deann
Full review: Earth’s Knot.
I gave this book 2.5/5. This novella felt more like a prequel/ first chapters to a larger story without a beginning, middle, or end. Great concept that fell short due to the length of the book. The entire series would benefit from a reworking into a full length novel.
A Christmas Gift by Stella Wilkinson
Full Review: A Christmas Gift
I gave this book 4.5/5. A very quick read, but a sweet Christmas romance of unrequited love, childhood sweethearts, and all the usual YA romance tropes that I like to indulge in. Christmas novellas have to have a happy ending in my opinion, and this one was too cute.
The Christmas Bake-Off by Abby Clements
Full Review: The Christmas Bake-Off
I gave this book 3.5/5. A fun, Christmas tale of a village bake-off with sabotage the fore front of the narrative. A ‘who dunnit’ of the baking variety. A quick read, that warms the cockles of your heart, but doesn’t have very much romance or character development.
Naughty or Nice Anthology by Various Authors
Full Review: Naughty or Nice
I gave this book 3/5. A brilliant concept. All the authors use the same writing prompt to create a Christmas tale about Charlotte and Daniel. Enjoyable, quick read shorts, but sometimes it felt a little monotonous. I had to pace myself between stories as one Charlotte was blending into another.
Eleonore by Faith Rivens (ARC)
Full Review: Eleonore
I gave this book 5/5. What can I say? This novella is right up my reading street. Kick ass heroine and mother, a romance with history, believable story telling in the urban fantasy genre, and on point dialogue. A brilliant debut from this author.
