The Last Nightrunner Book

Yes, folks, this week I start work on what will be the seventh and last Nightrunner book. As excited as I am about going in some new directions, it makes me sad, too. I've known Alec and Seregil longer than I have my kids. They've been a part of our lives and family since 1983, I think.

I am also working on Glimpses II, and who knows? I may keep doing short stories like that. We'll see.

And I hereby promise not to end the series by killing Seregil and/or Alec. I just will not do it.

That is all.

April I will be sad to see this series end. I promise to treasure this book when it comes out, and I'll try to read it slowly!

Donnie I will also be sad to see it end . I just wanted to say that this series is one of the reasons after twenty years,I started to read again. It renewed my passion for reading. Thank you for giving us such strong gay characters. Being a gay man who (is a contractor ) Its nice to see characters not acting in such a stereotypical way.some people see gay men as a group but were all different ,and you have done me proud.I will continue to follow you and I cant wait for the final book.Ive also turned several of my friends on to you.THANK YOU, THANK YOU,THANK YOU!!

Lynn Flewelling Thanks so much, Donnie, for all you said. It's always good to hear from gay men that my characters worked for them. :-)

De I was introduced to your books with The Bone Doll's Twin. I've just started reading the Nightrunner's series. I got the library to replace missing copies when The White Road came out. I'm enjoying the heck out of these stories. Sad you're almost finished with them, glad Alec and Serigil both will survive!

VJ Summers THANK YOU for promising Alec and Serigil will live on! I actually skipped the final book in a series I loved very much because I read the spoilers and knew a beloved main character died.

Alec and Serigil's love story was so organic and authentic - I don't want to even consider one of them without the other!

Zachariah I highly enjoy the idea of a Glimpses II and allowing us to hold on to our characters through continues short stories. To me, Alec and Seregil are more than just characters, thanks to your great development skills, and even ending the series is the sad equivalent to them dying. They would then only come to life through rereading.. Do you plan on doing more work developing off of this world as was done with the Tamir Triad?

Thank you for promising not to kill either of them. Honestly, this was the first lgbt fantasy book series that I've ever read. I remember picking up the first one and knowing that I will always remember it. And remember it I do. The first three are always with me whenever I need to fly somewhere, I end up reading the first one on the way over to the destination and the other ones on the way home. I want to say thank you for continuing with it. This is an amazing series that I read and read again each year. My copies are close to falling apart but they are still a treasured part of my book collection.

Michael So, was Casket of Souls the last book? Please say it ain't so! I'm trying to judge by the time line of the postings and hoping that Glimpses doesn't count as a "book".

Niks Michal, Casket of Souls is #6)))) well, at least according to goodreads. Glimpses were more like additional stories, a gift from the author to devoted fans who don`t like to part with their beloved characters, than an independent book with a chronological story-line.

Lynn, THANK YOU for Anything you would like to tell us about the guys in the final (?)))))) coming book, we are looking forward seeing them again! I do hope there will be some conclusion with Sebrahnn story - because it was obvious in Casket of souls that Alec misses him much. I just wonder...would Alec like to see him again or it`s definately not gonna happen and he just would have to accept that he is never going to be a father...
