No wise cracks! I know it doesn't look edible but it is so yummy! I inherited this recipe about forty years ago from my mother-in-law, who with ten kids, did everything from scratch. Now it's a family favorite and a yearly request at my daughter's place of employment when they have their holiday party. I share this recipe every year. It's easy to make, too.
Enough to stuff a 13 pound turkey 2 long loaves of cheap white bread - cut up1 pkg. Jimmy Dean sage sausage - cooked and drained1 onion - chopped up3 stalks of celery and the leaves - chopped up2 cups turkey stock (from scratch), or you can use chicken2 tablespoons poultry seasoning Add everything together but the stockAdd stock gradually and mix well. You might not use it all. Dressing shouldn't be too wet or too dry.Stuff the turkey. Put some on the drum sticks too, it will crisp up and believe me I have family members who fight over that. Personally I like the dressing in the turkey better. Cook the extra in a pan for about 1 hour uncovered.
