Nathan Fillion, Scary Weapons, and Other Comic-Con Commotion(s)
Where were we? Oh, yes, braving the crowds at Comic-Con . . .
I'd say a good 53.7% of the people there had weapons. I however, was only armed with a Peep . . .
Luckily most of the people/creatures/things we ran into were friendly . . .
I was told to go outside when it gets overwhelming, and it was good advice. However, others did the same thing . . .
During one of our breaks, Peepy and I attended the Gotham Group soiree. Scott Westerfeld was there (first photo) and Michael Reisman was lurking in the background. Also there, was super cool Gotham literary manager Eddie Gamarra (second photo, holding Peepy) . . .
At dinner with my agent Jodi Reamer, we ran into Ransom Riggs and his wife Abby. (I was carrying movie posters she had worked on!) The last time we saw Ransom, he ate a sandwich.
On Day Two, I attended Comic-Con with Son. He didn't want me to take too many photos with Peepy because he thinks that's weird. Uh, hello Mr. Mask, did you look in a mirror?
Don't tell, but when he wasn't looking, I managed a few shots . . .
We saw some celebs like Noah Wylie and R2D2 . . .
The creator of Hellboy, Mike Mignola, was there, so we got his autograph on comic books and a mask . . .
Now, when you first get to Comic-Con, they give you these cool bags that are big enough to hold a w-o-o-k-i-e-e (I had initinally spelled it wrong in WARP SPEED, but my Star Wars guy corrected me!) . . .
So we filled up our bags with posters and stuff. Sadly, we weren't able to take home everything (or everyone) we saw . . .
Later, we got a hot tip that we should attend Quick Draw. That's where Sergio Aragones and others were on stage drawing cartoons faster that you could look at them. (Yes, try to figure that out!) . . .
It was great fun and the quick wit and hilarious cartoons left me in awe. As for more awesome awe, Son's a fan of The Last Airbender (the animated series), so we made sure to go the Legend of Korra panel . . .
A sneak peek of the new series premiered and my video camera happened to be on. Just listen to the crowd reaction!
Perhaps the most fun of Comic-Con was the seeing the enthusiasm of the fans. I loved it that this was a sanctioned Halloween where adults can act like kids!
On the last day, tragedy occurred. I got sick. I was unable to attend the CASTLE panel and see Nathan Fillion. I know he must have been disappointed, too. After all, we have history . . .
Alas, we did not connect in person, however, I was able to get this poster . . .
And I did bring home a lovely felted tree, two bottles of poison, and some Big Foot cologne (the other stuff I already had) . . .
Ah, Comic-Con, until next year . . .
