Writing (About) Life

I've been away from the writing for a time. My mother, who is 96 and who has Alzheimer's, had a heart attack and subsequently, pericarditis (an infection in the sac around the heart). She is stable regarding her heart for now--she's asked me to bring her a tomato and mayo sandwich with a big slice of onion on it, and I'm taking this as a good sign.
