If we were vines
I would wrap around you
And I would strengthen you
You would grow higher
More sturdy and sure
And you would bloom
And I would bloom
Together
We would bloom
But as most vines do
You would also be free
To branch out
And see what there is
Of a world so very big
Freely and without thought
You would grow yourself
Persistently and obsessively
Farther from me
Into the world
Spreading your beauty
But…
I have your foundation
And I will always hold tight
Watching as you grow
More beautiful
Into the world
