NaNoWriMo Progress

We've been vacationing in Maine this week. Kelly and I have been writing in the evening and into the night every night since we've been here. Both of us are making excellent progress so far on our novels. I am writing the sequel to Black King Takes White Queen to appease the girls at work who are clamoring for the sequel ASAP! It's urban fantasy. I scraped my original novel idea after writing 900 words the first morning of NaNoWriMo and restarting that night. The story is just unrolling as I go. Kelly is writing a paranormal novel about paranormal investigators working out of a college. She's doing great so far.

Tomorrow we'll be writing on home turf at the Blue Umbrella Bookstore at 2 Main Street in downtown Westfield, MA at a NaNo write-in. The write-in is from 1:30PM-3:30PM. That should give us time to get the word count up! We're so grateful to Jessica Martin for signing up to be an official NaNoWriMo write-in site. She jumped right on board as usual in support of local writers/authors. Kudos to her for being part of the literary renaissance in Westfield. It seems like not so long ago downtown was turning into a ghost town. It's being revitalized one storefront at a time and becoming a magnet for creative people-writers, artists in all mediums, musicians, photographers, dancers, and other visual artists and people with vision and a desire to breathe new life into the arts and culture here in this small city.

I'm fortunate to have the support of Artworks Westfield and Jessica at Blue Umbrella Books, plus a network of authors, artists, musicians, photographers and creative people who share a vision for a thriving artistic community here at the gateway to the Berkshires. Western MA has always been the home of writers and artists. We have a rich history here.

Write on Western MA! We were approaching our first million words last night!
