Are You Afraid Of Halloween?

When I was small, growing up in England, Halloween was so close to Bonfire Night, I could hardly tell them apart. First came black paper witches riding broomsticks crafted from twigs. We made them in school and took them home to decorate our bedroom windows. Gazing out past mine, I'd wonder if any bonfires might reflect in the clouds, and would witches dance. I'm not even sure we burned the guy in our neighborhood, but if we did I probably thought he was a witch on a broomstick too.

Sheila I love the "War and Peas" costume idea! You almost have me wanting to dress up tomorrow night. I wonder if we could have a "book night" when everyone goes around dressed for books and collects reading material at the houses visited.

Jean Hi Sheila-- Great idea about "book night." There is a little outdoor library on a post in our neighborhood. It is a little bookcase on a post and invites passersby to take a book, leave a book.

Sheila We've got one of those too, but I only ever see when walking a dog - not a good time to borrow a book.
