How I worked myself to death

Or toward death, or on death, or something death related. I signed a contract to write a series back in 2005. The first book of that series came out two weeks ago. Basically, I turned it in about two years late. Which, believe it or not, isn't a big deal. As I've said before -- if your book is a week late, everyone is concerned.
