Excerpt From Hidden Design, the Prophecy

Excerpt: From Chapter Six:

The door to the bathroom flew open. Mikki's heart skipped a beat as Seth emerged, freshly washed and wearing only a pair of partially buttoned, faded blue jeans. She hadn't noticed the shower water stop running. He had a towel draped over his head and was drying his hair as he walked out into the hallway. "You have them, don't you?" He pulled the towel from his head and looked at her with a level gaze. Drops of water still dripped from a few errant strands of hair.
"Moi?"
"Yes, you."
Mikki grinned as she swung the keys back and forth that dangled from her first finger. "I could have easily left ten minutes ago, but as long as I'm here, I want some real answers. You owe me at least that much."
Mikki stood and watched Seth out of the corner of her eye as he finished dressing. She had to admit that this man did something to her and her curiosity overcame her desire to leave. She watched the muscles of his chest and stomach move and ripple as he swung a shirt around his back and pushed his arms down into the sleeves. She felt herself dampen at the thought of his body on top of hers, inside her, and his mouth everywhere on her. Damn it, she was still angry with him and felt betrayed by her own body and the fantasies she was creating around him.
Seth buttoned the front of his shirt, then stepped up close to her, backing her into the wall and pinning her there. He leaned his face close into hers, meeting her eye to eye. A few drops of water dripped from his hair and splashed onto her exposed cleavage. "Smell better now?"
Mikki tried to hide her gasp of surprise as the cool droplets coursed a slow trail down between her breasts. The warmth between her legs spread through her loins and up her body.
Seth's eyes darkened as he gazed deep into hers. She tried to avert her eyes, but found her gaze locked with his. She knew he understood her arousal and had found his own. Seth leaned in towards Mikki and she stretched to meet him. His lips brushed the tops of hers for a brief moment. "We shouldn't."
"Why?" Her hands sought his chest. She trailed her fingers up through the still damp patch of hair and back down to the waistband of his jeans.
A low groan rose from his throat as his lips brushed hers once again. "I can't." He turned his face from hers and placed his hands on the wall above her head bracing himself.
Mikki opened her eyes. "Wh-what?"
"I just can't. We have work to do. You're one of the children I've sworn to protect. I have to stay focused." He pushed himself back from her body.
"Do I look like a child to you?"
He looked down at her. "No, of course not. But you're getting all wet."
She felt the water droplets from his hair slide down her chest, hyper-aware of the wetness spreading between her legs and knowing he didn't have a clue. She averted her eyes from his, searching for a way to respond while trying to control her breathing.
Seth struggled with his own breathing. He pushed away from the wall and stepped back from her. "I don't know about you, but I'm really hungry. We should eat."
She straightened herself, brushing her hands down the front of her blouse and skirt. "What did you have in mind . . . uh, besides the obvious that I was just thinking about and . . . oh, crap. I should just shut-up now."
