Me?

Prior to four months ago, I wasn’t a runner–not at all! However, after seeing a couch to 5k walk/run 8 week program in a magazine, I decided to give it a try. I made it a goal to be able to run the equivalent of a 5k (3.1 miles) before turning 56.

I almost didn’t make it past Day 1! The first day I walked for 29 minutes and ran only for 1 minute. That minute was a long one! When I was done, I was out of breath and felt like I’d never be able to do more.

I didn’t give up, though. I kept at it, gradually increasing my running time. By the end of the 8 week program, I achieved my goal of running 3.1 miles non-stop right before my 56th birthday. Yay!

I’ve been running regularly since and have to say, I love it. It makes me feel healthier and younger. And, without even going on an official diet, it has also helped me lose some weight.

Me? A runner? Yes I am!
