People often ask me why I write. And I could offer them the simple answer by telling them it's my passion - which is true. But there is so much more to it. Writing fulfills a need I have to create and my artistic medium just happens to be the written word.
I came across a quote by Enid Bagnold, the British author and playwright known for penning the story National Velvet, which I loved as a child. Funny that it would be her words that so precisely mirror my own personal reason for writing.
“Who wants to become a writer? And why? Because it’s the answer to everything. … It’s the streaming reason for living. To note, to pin down, to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make something, to make a great flower out of life, even if it’s a cactus.”
