I see that lately you've headed toward doing mostly creator-owned comics. Do you foresee yourself ever doing another ongoing for DC or Marvel, or do you think that that part of your career is behind you?

I definitely took a break. The New52 was difficult for me for a lot of reasons. I thought there was tremendous potential, but for some reason, I had the worst editorial/creative conflicts of my career and it was pretty exhausting. I am proud of Batgirl, but it was definitely tough going almost the entire time (with a few blessed exceptions).

The Movement was a joy, Firestorm was REALLY difficult, and that makes me sad, that book could have been a monster hit.

Anyway, I chose to take a break and work mostly on things I own. People who think I ‘lost my position’ or whatever are mistaken, both of the majors (and virtually all the next level companies, too) have offered me lots of work. I have no beef with anyone, the last few things I did at DC were just an absolute dream, fantastic editors and lots of freedom. But I wanted to tell some stories I felt deeply about that were mine from start to finish (with talented collaborators, of course!)>

I am excited about REBIRTH. And I have enjoyed a lot of Marvel stuff lately. Who knows?
