Possible glitch in pages read (KENP) for Kindle Unlimited books

Since the beginning of the month, the numbers of pages read of my Kindle Select titles has gone from a daily average of about 800 to a measly 50. Okay, it’s only one week, I kept trying to tell myself, it will pick up again — and then I read this thread on the Kboards: http://www.kboards.com/index.php/topic,242225.0.html

It looks like it’s an actual glitch on the part of Amazon, and one that they’re denying, to boot. Which means that a lot of us may be out of a lot of money, and no way to fix...

Nola Ouch! Losing authors like you means they would lose readers like me. My 150+ books a year might not seem like much (and every gift I give is a book, too) but times how many loyal readers?

Thanks for the support, Nola! Maybe a few readers like you should write Amazon as well? I don't think they care much whether they lose a writer like me who only sells a few hundred books a month. But readers? Now THAT would bother them. :)

Nola Will do! I just checked and I've been doing Amazon reviews for 17 years. So maybe loyalty will count. I work for a large international company and individual customers get attention so it's not impossible. I read the concerns on the blog and felt more than a little fear that my reading addiction might be in danger. No matter that there are loads of authors - don't mess with my favorites. That just won't do. :)

Starting Island of Glass in the morning. Thank you in advance for sharing your imagination.

Thanks SO much, Nola! Do please let me know if you want a free review copy of anything. Whatever is going on with Amazon right now has tanked my writing income, and I have no idea what to do other than pull everything from Kindle Unlimited and go wide. But that won't fix anything for a long time, since I'm committed to a three month period on books in KDP Select, and I don't really know yet how to sell on other venues. Sigh. :(

Nola I sent a message to Amazon. Are you able to see that I read your book this morning? It was 144 pages acording to my tablet.

I see new pages for Island of Glass. Was that the book? Other authors are reporting that the problem has to do with people reading using the new Page Flip navigation tool for reading books, and that's why some reads get counted and others don't.

Thanks, BTW. I hope you liked the book. :)

Nola That's it. And I diCheck out my review. I saw in it something different than others did, I think. I added it to an art list so hopefully others won't miss it. Thank you. I am off to my studio to try out my 'magic'.

Ruth Nestvold Oh, wow, Nola, thank you, what a lovely review! Can I give you review copies of all my books, please? *g*

Nola Ha ha! I've read the Yseult series and reviewed it. Loved them all. I'll see what I haven't read. I usually read just historical fiction but my friend, Stuart (Gregory Figg) has encouraged me to expand my horizons. Support those indie authors!!
