What I’ve Been Reading, 10/4/16
I feel like I haven’t been getting as much reading done lately. Probably because I’ve been working on the final edits on Managed Hearts. But now that that’s done, I can spend that time reading again.
So, without further ado
Here’s what I’ve been reading lately.
I’m currently reading Hard Luck by Liv Morris. It’s billed as a romantic comedy, and while there are some amusing situations, it’s not quite the laugh-out-loud funny that I usually associate with romantic comedy. That said, it’s still an engaging story. I’m only about a third of the way into it, so I can give an unqualified opinion, but so far so good.
I recently finished a couple of books by Sabrina Paige. This was another situation where I got hooked by a Facebook ad (I think Hard Luck might’ve been, too. I don’t remember.) I saw an ad for Double Team: A MFM Menage Romance, and the tiny excerpt sounded entertaining. It’s funny and dirty, and I enjoyed it. Rolled in with it was Prince Albert, which is a royal (almost) steps trope, so that was a new spin. It’s another dirty, fun read. And the dedication made me laugh.
Before that I read Man Candy by Melanie Harlow. This was the first book of hers I’ve read, and I definitely plan on finding some more. I always enjoy books that turn gender norms around. In this case, it was the female character that didn’t want a real relationship. More often than not, it’s the guy. So having the guy wanting a relationship, and working hard to get her to come around, was nice. I’ve read a few like this lately, so it seems to be getting more common, but still less common than the other way around IME.
And lastly, I read the Alpha boxed set by Jasinda Wilder, which is three books—Alpha, Beta, and Omega. This was a bit more of a romantic suspense trilogy than I originally realized. It was good, though, and kept me hooked through all three books. The boxed set is still on sale for $2.99 as of this writing, which is what I got it for. Again, this was me clicking on a FB ad. Ha. I’m a sucker for those things.
