Insecure Writer's Support Group created by Alex J. Cavanaugh
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer's Support Group day. We share our thoughts - talk about our doubts and fears. Or we can offer a word of encouragement to others.
Co-hosts for this month are: Beverly Stowe McClure
Megan Morgan
Viola Fury
Madeline Mora-Summonte
Angela Wooldridge
Susan Gourley

Question for this month - When do you know your story is ready?

But first my insecurity.

This month is a personal issue. I just got my edits back from my new editor at my new publisher. At my previous publisher I had 2 different editors and they were terrible. Not only were they insulting and arrogant and sometimes it seemed - stupid - but as I read my earlier works I notice a ton of mistakes that I trusted them to catch.
My bad. I know. Live and learn. But they were so all- knowing and arrogant.
So now I have my new edits and I can't open the document. That critical voice created by other two editors is making me freeze. Dumb. I know. The editor even emailed me and said there isn't much that needs fixing.
So why am I being a wuss and not opening it?
I will. I have to. Under contract. Maybe that'll be enough to make me get over this.

This month's question - I have - or actually had - a really cool beta and it was her comments at the end that told me the book was ready. Unfortunately she has left writing and isn't doing beta reads anymore. So I guess I have to find a new way to know my book is ready to be sent, because with my insecurities I am pretty sure I'll never think it's ready.

Wow - Let's hope next month I'll be back to my happier self.
