How to Be a Good Wife in the 1950s
How about we send an army of fierce feminists back to the 1950s in a time machine to sort out this guy???Listen to this piece of advice from the MAN who wrote this article (decades ago) on how to be a good wife: “Don’t ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him. A good wife always knows her place.” Hilarious, but not. Imagine how many wonderfully talented women have been put down by this sort of bilge through the ages! Ideally a couple should serve each other as equals…and that’s when the good times roll. What do you think?
Things are very different from how they were in the 1950s. But we can all learn a little from reading about being a good housewife in the 1950s.
