Self-Destruct

longsnowsmoon5:

Uh oh. In ASiB, Irene showed us how to protect a cache of highly explosive, dangerous, valuable data.

Sherlock examined Irene’s phone from every possible angle, looking for a way to hack into it.

If he’s even remotely aware that Agra/Appledore is hiding behind a sealed door in his mind palace, pretty sure he’s been all over it, out of curiosity at least, to see if he can break the lock.

But the Holmes kids are clever. They know how to protect their secrets. From ASiB:

“Any attempt to open the casing will burn the hard drive.”

“Some data is always recoverable.” “Take that risk?”

“There will be two passcodes: one to open the phone, one to burn the drive.“

“We destroy this, then. No-one has the information.” “… unless there are lives of British citizens depending on the information you’re about to burn.”

**********

In TAB, Sherlock is attacking the locked room again. And (as usual) he’s like a dog with a bone. “I *have* to finish this.”

Big!Mycroft (aka Appledore!Sherlock) knows how relentless Sherlock can be when he’s on a case. He’ll finish this, end this, BURN it down.

And Big!Mycroft seems sad.

Because… well, he’s been living in that locked room for a long time. He might even have helped seal it shut. He believes the locks are unbeatable… And he is certain that the opening of Agra/Appledore will mean Sherlock’s death.

We’re going to see it all over again. Irene’s phone = Sherlock brain. Impasse.
