The bride’s first appearance on the show and her first victim, Soo Lin Yao, a mirror for Sherlock.

The bride is in Soo Lin’s life because her brother is still embroiled with a criminal organisation.  Mary is in Sherlock’s life possibly because of something Mycroft did or allowed to happen.  Soo Lin’s brother shoots her when John leaves her alone.  Mary shoots Sherlock after he leaves John’s side.

Sherlock comes looking for Soo Lin and sees the bride, unveiled.  On her face and body are a threat, in code: 1 & 15.  Page 15, entry 1 of the London A-Z book is the word, ‘deadman’.  Sherlock, there, on the street, with that word hovering over beautiful romantic bokeh, is a dead man.  Maybe Mary really was supposed to kill Sherlock.        

Anyway, here we see a threat from Mary from the future in the form of the cypher message.  We also see foreshadowing about Sherlock getting shot and about Mycroft’s involvement.

Not that this is news, people have written about Soo Lin as Sherlock’s mirror, etc. but now that we’ve seen TAB we can see the resemblance between The Bride(s) and the first threat sent by the Black Lotus.
