My First Article for Scisco Media

Hi folks,

This is my first article for Scisco Media:

https://sciscomedia.co.uk/revolution-...

It would be great if you could set some time aside to read it and let me know your thoughts.

As indie/ small press authors, I think this is something we should be talking about quite a lot more because there's a wall between us and the wider audience and it's about to get smashed down.

I know I frequently come across like some anarchist nutjob who is completely detached from the real world. This is true. However, the paragraph under the sub header 'Safeguarding Free Expression' hopefully makes it clear that I want us all to be creatively free no matter what we choose to write about. This isn't just about me being able to write about how much of a cunt your boss is.

This distinction is an important one because this is about taking control of our own culture and doing exactly what we want rather than allow corporations to shape it for us.

I'll shut up.

Cheers!

R.D

Rupert Dreyfus Cheers for reading, Jason.

Yeah, I've had a number of people pop up on Twitter saying they appreciated it.

Rupert Dreyfus Slow moving Dreyfus news day.

I got another Twitter like off Paul Mason for this article. He wrote this:

Postcapitalism: A Guide to Our Future

Lostaccount "But a look at today’s numerous bestsellers lists indicates that in order to get a foot in the door, an author has to be writing apolitical or politically inoffensive works" ... these days, isn't it more about being a celebrity. The big houses will put out any old shit so long as the name sells it. I'm sick and tired of publishers touting idiots like Holly Willoughby/Katie Price/Dawn French/That silly Titchmarsh gardener bloke with his awful books etc. as writers. They need to stop pretending.

Rupert Dreyfus Well said. It's a bit of both. Anything that sells. Quality doesn't matter.
