“…a writer has the duty to be good, not lousy…” E.B. White QUOTES FOR WRITERS (and people who like quotes)

I can’t imagine taking the time and effort to write a novel, for instance, and not being utterly besotted by the subject…my own novels take years to complete – and go through multiple revisions until I am content to share them with the world…20 years in the case of my first novel, Whip of the Wild God!!! Like E.B. White, I too do not care for politics, and only got involved marginally because I hate to see what is going on in the USA today…a country that gave me so much and which I grew to love…I also seek to inspire those on the inner path through my work…which is why I focus solely on Spiritual/Metaphysical Fiction…thank you for sharing this post, Bridget Whelan!

A writer should concern himself with whatever absorbs his fancy, stirs his heart, and unlimbers his typewriter. I feel no obligation to deal with politics. I do feel a responsibility to society because of going into print: a writer has the duty to be good, not lousy; true, not false; lively, not dull; accurate, not full of error. He should tend to lift people up, not lower them down. Writers do not merely reflect and interpret life, they inform and shape life.
