Game Face

This is something my husband says frequently: “You’re so quiet.”  He always follows that up with the observation that I must be thinking about whatever story I’m working on at the time.  Apparently, he’s decided that just as an athlete … Continue reading →

Hello Ms. Bick,

When I notice that my wife is quiet, that's a quick trip to buy flowers. The calm before the storm.

There's something comforting in a partner knowing when the quiet is needed. And I loved the anecdote from your childhood. Born a story-teller and still hadn't had time to fully train your father to it.

You did not kill off a character...That's what kept me on the edge of my seat reading "Monsters." Despite you now suggesting that the deaths of certain of your characters trouble you, I did not realize that reading the "Ashes" trilogy. I wasn't sure who death was going to take until the final pages. Amazing.

Enjoy Wisconsin, but I suspect that's a given. I'm sorry that you and AL are getting along possibly even worse than a few months ago.

Your friend,
Dave

Ilsa Bick Thanks, Dave.

There are worse things than living here. Actually, if I hadn't, I wouldn't have gotten the idea for the character whose story is KILLING me to research and write. If that helps the book, well...all to the better.

Time will tell ;-)

The old chin up approach... :) I'm sure there are worse things for you, but I wonder how long you would voluntarily tolerate water-boarding or manicuring nails with bamboo shoots or electro-shock therapy.

Almost sounds like your current state of residence may need to legalize marijuana to make it slightly more tolerable.

Or, I suppose, there are lots of frequent flyer miles for the home of your heart.

One can only suffer so much for their art.

I'm interested to see if I will be able to ferret out the character that was born of your love tolerate-hate relationship with your current residence.

My blood boiled yesterday. A powerful symbol of a gone time period. Some people say it represents pride and honor. For me, it simply symbolizes hate and division. I grew up out West. I'm almost fully adjusted, but not completely.
