“How badly do you wanna find out?” *cocks gun that she brought with her because she was gonna literally shoot him again* “you can’t shoot me ur face is on the building” *sighs but decides to show off anyway to scare my intended target* “I will do anything to make sure my husband doesn’t find out that I kill people and TBH I want to kill you”

Lies to kill right now:

1. Mary wasn’t scared. Look at her face. She’s smiling. She was completely in control of this situation from start to finish, despite Sherlock’s unplanned interruption. She didn’t care. She warned him and then she shot him. Cold blood. She wasn’t frightened. She was annoyed.

2. It wasn’t an accident.

3. She was never sorry. If anything, she regretted the fact that Sherlock somehow failed to bleed out on his way to the hospital and when he escaped from said hospital after she threatened him again, while drugged and unable to defend himself or even respond, she hunted him down with a loaded gun in preparation to shoot him again. Repetition automatically cancels out any and all remorse theories.

4. Mary enjoys this sort of thing. She has demonstrated canonically that she enjoys making Sherlock uncomfortable, and this smile right here says everything you need to know about how she felt about shooting him. Even the actor herself said that it was one of her two favourite things to play. This is heartfelt, bone-deep enjoyment right here. Mary never liked Sherlock from the beginning, and here she finally has a reason to shoot him.

5. About that… it was a very flimsy reason. It would have made far more sense to knock Sherlock out with the butt of her gun, continue to threaten Magnussen for his proofs of her extremely criminal past, then wait for Sherlock to revive and urgently ask him to keep quiet, ask him for advice on how to best break the news of her actual identity to the man she married, or - should he refuse any of the above - THEN threaten him. Not shoot without even discussing it. No: Mary clearly wanted to shoot Sherlock.

And so she did. Smiling.
