Hood Series

It’s always a treat to see the way other people interpret the Robin Hood legend. There have been all sorts of twists and turns over the years. On BBC radio four extra last Saturday, the first in a new radio series was broadcast. The blurb asks you to “forget what you know about the Robin Hood legend”. That isn’t as easy as it sounds, but if you can manage it, this radio series is fantastic. For sheer originality, it must win the prize. The Hood series is radio drama at its best. Radio special effects have certainly developed over the years. It really is impossible to tell if you shut your eyes that you’re not sitting in a cinema watching this on the big screen. The first episode, Hood, noble secrets, can be listened to on the BBC radio four extra website. The second episode, Hood, scribe of Sherwood, will be broadcast this Saturday at 6 PM. For any Robin Hood fan or people who just like a fantastic drama with amazing actors and are happy to use their imagination in place of their eyes, this is not to be missed. The series, comprising four episodes in total, is available to purchase either through iTunes or visiting www.spitefulpuppet.com.
