You're writing a novel!! :O what's it about?

I am! :) It’s a literary thriller (literary means it’s as much about the characters, their development and relationships, etc as it is about the chases and helicopters and explosions, which is the thriller part) strongly based on my epic (by which I mean long!) Johnlock novel, Against the Rest of the World. However, it diverges sharply and also bridges the gap into what comes after, and that part leans largely on Vena Cava. My two main characters are strongly based on Sherlock and John but have taken on lives of their own and veered away a little there, too. Certainly elements are definitely recognisable: the sneering older brother, who in this case is M, the man who runs the MI6. He’s ten years older and the parents are deceased. Thomas, arguably the main character, is an MI5 agent whose brother has him abruptly transferred into the MI6 and sent into a field assignment for which he didn’t have enough training and which dragged on 2.5 years rather than the expected one month. Meanwhile his former flatmate, Michael, thinks Thomas must have died in the field and is struggling to move on and marry his girlfriend, etc. There’s a huge tie-in between the wife and Thomas’ field assignment, and there’s also a definite romantic subplot. A gay one. Obviously. :) Usually when fanfic authors attempt to convert their stories into original (”original”) material, they change the relationships to heterosexual ones because they considered far more marketable. I’m not planning on marketing my novel as a “gay thriller”, just a “thriller” which happens to have gay elements. I want it to be considered mainstream, damn it! So I’m going to try that route first and then we’ll see what’s what. Meanwhile I need to finish writing it first! My characters just had their first kiss and it didn’t go well and now we’re in the angst stage. Yay. :) I mean, I could tell you the entire story, but that would ruin it…
