Do you always review books you have read?
Many people have read my books but few have ever sat down and written a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Other writers have made similar comments. I am intrigued to find out why readers are so reluctant to make their opinions
known. Could it be that they just don't like the book they have just read or, are they concerned about their own English or whatever the language they speak in. I would be very interested to hear the views of others.

Hi Tanvika, many thanks for your input. You make some very good points. However, on Goodreads the reader has the option of awarding stars to a book without having to write a single word.
That is still insufficient measure to know about a book.
I always write a review of a Goodreads book, less inclined to with a book I have bought but try to make the effort
As an author myself I know how important those reviews can be. That is why I always write a review even though it may be short and sweet. If the author hasn't had many reviews I will try to write something longer.
I always write a review, have rated and reviewed 3 in just the last week. I put them on Amazon as well.
Authors spend months, even years writing a book. Often the rewards aren't that great, so a little appreciation by a reader can persuade an author to go on with their work. Well done Maureen for writing your reviews.
Thanks Richard. I realise that an author must see their book as their baby, so it's only fair to provide some feedback.
On Thursday evening I am to give a talk on my experiences as an author. I will be encouraging my audience to write reviews as you are doing Maureen. If they have enjoyed the work of an author then writing a review can encourage that person to write more books. It is in everybody's interests.
