Into Something Beautiful

So my latest blog post (I blush to think that I actually wrote that jibberish) stated "I did not find inspiration...in the beautiful sunset this evening."
Such is not the case for this blog post.
Today was a day filled with rehearsing worship music for an upcoming conference, then volunteering at the woman's center followed by a state play rehearsal. Each item enjoyable, however leaving me weary as we drove home this evening.
After unloading everything out of the family van and into the house, I took one glance out the window at the sunset I had been admiring on the way home.
“Ohhh, look at it now.”
I stepped out the front door, walking into the yard barefoot as I often do and gazed at the sunset. A good-sized cloud that had been a dull gray all day now rested directly above the mountain where the sun began to descend for the night. I looked all around me. The afternoon sky had been filled with clouds that day, covering almost every surface with little breaks between them to remind us that the blue sky and sun were still there. They had all been gray and dull.
But not anymore.
The sun's rays reached up and touched every one of them, even the clouds in the east. The very tips of the clouds that hung in the sky were dipped in pink, orange and blue. The cloud that was most gray that hung over the descending sun glowed with a color that seemed much brighter than the sun, itself. Beautiful, stunning gold lined the very edges of the cloud and the sun shone the most beautiful orange color as a farewell to the evening.
As I stood there, captivated by the sunset, I was remind of how God had taken something gray, ordinary and dare I say dull that day and turned it into something that made me pause and stand there, unable to rip my eyes away. He does not do that just with sunsets or sunrises that chase the night away. He does the same in lives that are given over to Him. He takes something gray and turns it into something gold. He can take something that others may consider ordinary and dull, yet turn it into something that will take your breath away. He can take a human life and transform it into such beauty that brings Him glory and happiness.
His beauty had me in awe of Him all day today, and I could do nothing but thank Him. If only you could have seen the sunset tonight, dear readers. I cannot think of a time when the clouds have been so shimmering gold.
