The MOH Protects Us.
Between 11am and 3pm yesterday
these were my stats.
I beat my previous personal
walking best by 2k steps.
6.1 Miles traveled and 604 Calories spent.
So what's wrong with this picture?
I don't need my handy Acme Activity
Food Conversion Algorithm
to compute the injustice.
Eyeballing the chart below
is enough to send one apoplectic.
It looks like my walk yesterday earned me one (that's one less than 2!):
1 Whopper w/o Mayo (and I so love mayo) or1 Whopper with Cheese w/o Mayo (the mayo again, ugh!) or1 Whopper Jr. (I could maybe try to sneak 2 but I know I'd be over the limit)
Luckily, the Ecuadorian government sponsors a program called “Ecuador Ejercitate!” or “Ecuador exercise!” The goal is to help its citizens stay healthy and combat obesity. The program was founded in 2012,
with a $6.5 M investment to initiate classes in 278 places in the country.
“Ecuador Ejercitate!” usually takes the form of "Bailoterapia." Literally, Bailoterapia translates to “dance-therapy.” Bailoterapia means doing latin-dance inspired aerobics to the sounds of reggaeton, salsa, and cumbia.
To assist its citizens in staying healthy and avoiding obesity, the government has also permanently roped off and posted guards at those establishments it deems unhealthy. The list of offending establishments is updated monthly by the MOH (Ministry of Health). A special commission has been set-up to monitor MOH's stewardship of the list to ensure that corporate bribes cannot exert influence.
Don't even think of approaching the BK at Millenium Plaza.
Those guys in the uniforms mean business. But it's for our own good.
Another reason why Ecuador is a great place to live. Viva Ecuador!
