NETWORKING PAYS!

I was a slow learner about this. It's difficult for an introvert to step forward and make those connections. I used to discount networking as awkward schmoozing. Then I became a poet and began to notice how small the poetry world is. It makes sense to join like-minded people, to share resources, and to submit work to journals that publish poets you like. (A lot less expensive than buying every single journal on trial.) I followed a poet friend to my publisher, Kelsay Books, and several more followed me. Today I got a truly charming acceptance letter from a journal editor. He was impressed that I followed one of his favorite poets to his publication.

Support other poets, and follow their lead!
