Genre of the Ghosts

One of the things I enjoyed about writing (and continuing to write) the GHOSTS books is that they kind of change genres from time to time.

Like (in my opinion), CHILD OF THE GHOSTS was a coming of age story. GHOST IN THE FLAMES and GHOST IN THE COWL were both more like mysteries. GHOST IN THE MAZE was a heist novel. GHOST IN THE HUNT, GHOST IN THE STORM, and GHOST IN THE INFERNO were more like thrillers. GHOST IN THE SEAL was a romance novel, and the last three of GHOST EXILE go right into epic fantasy.

But, as ever, the writer’s opinion often has absolutely no bearing on what the readers think of the book.

Ijka well i binged read it in a single night, Loved it! thought we would be going back to the empire, kind of like a summons comes in at the end begging for Caina's help and return. Loved the ending for our romance, you had me going for a bit there. Want to see how the healing thing works and what Caina makes of all the upcoming political intrigue. You're right about the genre changes, she has been working in the shadows but I also really want to see her pit her mind against others in political situations and also now that she has rank, if she wanted she could take over the world. AAAAAAHHHH! I can't wait. I don't know if you did it on purpose but when you showed us the alternate worlds my mind exploded with all the possibilities. Our universe just expanded in a major way. And with all the tinkering with the barrier to the netherworld, all the damage Jagrida and Callatas did I half expect acid rain or monsters from another galaxy. Anyway I'll wrap this up, I love your series, and somehow you always give me more than I expect and I definitely want to see so much more of the gang. Great book and I will be waiting anxiously for the next one. In the meantime I will salvage that time by anxiously waiting for the next Cloak Games book. Well done and carry on!

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it, and I'm glad the ending wasn't completely obvious. :) Hopefully GHOST IN THE RING will be enjoyable when I get to it next year.

My rule is that is characters have any happiness, they must first suffer, suffer, suffer. :)
