"The Labours of Iktis: The Charon Threshold" is a very brave debut ... Pablo Rodriguez set its proposal in the cosmos, and puts people in contact with other intelligent life forms. The argument is complex and deep, and is developed through several parallel subplots.
Large doses of adventure and action, and with scenes of great battles, both in space and in the atmosphere, involving nourished fleets armed starships with lasers and protected by shields energy.
But although the tone and rhythm are of Space Opera, the rigour is not sacrificed in favour of showmanship. The armed conflict into the plot, concludes in a different way from the usual fantasy literature, and personally I was pleasantly surprised.
It is a commonly accepted truth that science-fiction reflects the concerns of his time, and today are most authors posed dystopian future and unflattering. Instead, Pablo presents a united humanity, in consensus, in a prosperous and harmonious society.
Retrieves to the authors such as Arthur C. Clarke and Isaac Asimov, who believed in science as an engine of change for the advancement of society and to the evolution of humanity as a species.
Addresses the question of extraterrestrial intelligent life with a curious and imaginative, plausible and away from topical approach.
An attractive plot, a suggestive argument and a fun development.
